Salary: Competitive
Hours: up to 37 hours per week (including frequent evenings and weekends)
Contract: Fixed until December 2027, with possibility of a 6 month extension
Location: Based at The Venture, Wrexham, with travel across North Wales
About the project
The National Lottery-funded Meddwl Ymlaen – Mind Our Future project is delivered by The Venture on behalf of the North East Wales Partnership. The project empowers young people aged 11 to 24 to influence how mental health services are shaped across Wrexham and Flintshire.
About the role
The Mind Our Future Project is looking to recruit an Project Youth Worker that will support young people across Wrexham and Flintshire to actively participate in the Mind Our Future project. Through impactful student council meetings, collaboration with external youth groups, and working alongside our current Young Leaders Advisory Board. Ideal for individuals passionate about youth empowerment, studying youth work, childcare, education, or related fields, this role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience while positively impacting young people’s well-being and leadership skills. Your responsibilities will include:
- Support the delivery of workshops focused on teamwork, leadership, communication, and advocacy skills.
- Assist in establishing and facilitating School Council Forums, encouraging student collaboration and peer networking.
- Contribute to developing and refining resources and toolkits designed to enhance school council effectiveness.
- Engage directly with young people to identify barriers and training needs.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to young council members, nurturing their confidence and capabilities.
- Support student councils in assessing and advocating for effective school-wide well-being strategies.
Essential criteria include:
- Passion for youth empowerment and advocacy.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel across Wrexham and Flintshire.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required.
- A positive, approachable, and empathetic attitude towards young people.
Desirable requirements
- Currently studying or qualified in Youth Work, Childcare, Education, or a related discipline.
- Experience working or volunteering with young people.
- Welsh language proficiency (spoken and written).
- Valid UK driving licence and access to own transport.
- Basic marketing or social media management skills.
